Compliance with future environmental rules and regulations has been a key element of Bunge's investments totaling HUF 5 billion during the past decade: - The so-called physical refinery plant at Martfû produces better quality edible oil than the conventional (so-called chemical) technologies, but its sewage emission affects the environment considerably less. The mechanical-technological equipment used play a key role in reducing environmental pollution. The state-of-the-art equipment - primarily the energy recovering systems, the self-cleaning oil separators and vacuum stations - guarantee the lowest energy utilization and sewage emission that can be achieved with today's technology. - Since the factory switched to PET packaging, the amount of plastics had been reduced by 20-30% due to new production technology and bottle shape development.
